RealPresence Trio 8800 systems using Polycom UC Software 5.4.2AA enter a reboot loop when connected to Cisco switches that support IEEE 802.3af power over Ethernet (PoE) and have Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) enabled and Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) disabled. This issue does not exist with any other UC Software version or switches other than Cisco. This technical notification offers several options to resolve the issue.

Group Series v 4.1.5 and prior the video goes blank when hosting a 2 site Multi-Point call when Monitor Profile is "Speaker Only" and "Automatic Self View Control" is enabled, when the Group Series is configured for one monitor only.

  • The settings can be set during a multi-point call and the video blanks when "Automatic Self View" is enabled.
  • If "Automatic Self View" is enabled prior to the call the monitor will display correctly when the first call is placed, but goes blank when the second call connects.

This issue was corrected in RPGS 4.2.

Loud static noises heard from GS700 (v.4.1.5).

The problem may also manifest as a volume ramping that eventually leads to the same static burst.

This is mostly observed when a SoundStructures is attached for audio.

In addition, most GS700 units are suspected to have overheated at some point (or been in an enclosed environment where overheating would be likely).

When a Group Series running v4.1.5 and before is paired with a PTC, and Calendaring is not enabled, the time displayed on the large analog clock that becomes the main screen while paired will display the correct time but the digital clock in the upper right corner will be delayed by up to 45 seconds.

  • The analog clock time will match the time shown on the PTC.
  • The digital clock in the upper right corner can be delayed anywhere from 15 to 45 seconds and varies between systems.
  • RPGS v4.2 has resolved this issue.


SoundStation IP7000 may reboot when paired with a Group Series under specific audio add scenario using the Group Series WebUI (22058)

When the SoundStation IP7000 (IP7k) is paired to a Group Series (GS) using the CLINK microphone connection, there is a very specific configuration and dialing scenario that may trigger the IP7k to reboot.

  • While GS and IP7k are already in an active video call, the user accesses the GS WebUI to add an audio only participant.
  • The user will then drop the audio participant using the GS WebUI.
  • If the user then tries to dial another audio only participant through the GS WebUI, the call fails and the IP7k may reboot.
  • In order to recover, the user must tear down the existing video call and establish the video connection again before additional audio participants can be added.

The problem does not happen if the calls are dialed from the IP7k instead of the GS WebUI.

This was not seen while using Group Series v4.1.1.1 and IP7k v4.0.3.

When GS500 (v.4.1.3) uses a PCO (v1.4) invite to connect in a call, a 2nd audio connection may occur from the GS (22100)

When using PCO v1.4 to setup calls, it had been noticed that randomly GS codecs running 4.1.3.x will dial into the meeting with 2 connections:

The first connection will be with both video and audio, and the second connection only connects at 64k (H.323 audio).

This has only been reported on GS codecs running 4.1.3.x. The other codecs (including HDXs and GS running 4.1.1.1) do not experience the issue.

Issue is random and does not happen every time.

When the issue happens, however, the site will experience loop back audio of itself and will have to disconnect (or the bridge admin will disconnect only the 64k audio call).

This issue only fails in PCO calls, not manual dial.



Multiple GS units connect twice (video/audio + audio) in call, causing heavy echo (22101)

It has been reported that the GS system running 4.1.3 or 4.1.4 may dial into a meeting with 2 connections:

The first connection will be with both video and audio, and the second connection only connects as audio.

When the issue happens, the site will experience loop back audio of itself, and will have to disconnect (or the bridge admin has to disconnect the audio call).

Issue is random and does not happen at all times.

Calls were always hosted on their RMX, running version 8.4.0.383.

MLA version 3.1.4.4 is incorrectly identifying the Type with audio-only sites These sites are correctly identified when they are first created, but if any changes are made to their properties, they may show up as Standalone sites from that point on (not every time, but usually the issue occurs). This can cause pre-made templates to disappear, often at very unfortunate times.

The Remote Monitoring feature on the Telepresence Tool fails to display an image using HDX 3.1.6 software. The following error message is displayed below the black screen images on the Telepresence Tool.

?ERROR: video on web not allowed?

This feature worked fine with HDX 3.1.5 and earlier software but doesn?t work with the HDX 3.1.6 software.

Allow Video Display on Web is enabled and verified using Remote Monitoring on the HDX web UI.

Admin Settings > Tools > Remote Monitoring

HDX units continually renew their IP address since upgrading to 3.1.3.2.

This issue did not occur prior to installing 3.1.3.2.

NOTE: This same issue was also reported in HDX version 3.1.4.

In the customer?s HDX logs, as an example, many instances where a DHCP Renew is being sent repeatedly within the same minute:

The GS500 webUI shows the directory listings immediately however.

The problem is intermittent.



Group Series systems (v. HF - 4.1.5) lose Clink connectivity to Soundstructure randomly (22344)

GS500 and GS700 systems (v. HF - 4.1.5_06-180077) lose Clink connectivity to SoundStructures randomly.

In the reported case, when the GS systems were installed, the units began losing their CLink connection to the SoundStructures (f/w v. 1.7.1) units randomly in or out of a call.

Reboot or re-insertion of the Walta cable corrects the issue temporarily.
